Who We Are
Maine Needs is a nonprofit organization run 100 percent by volunteers. Started over three years ago, it began online and grew quickly to over 10,000 followers (Instagram and Facebook). We now have a physical location at 332 Forest Avenue, Portland. We have a team of over 100 volunteers, but are always in need of more, especially as we respond to cold weather needs. Donations for basic needs come from all over the state and even different parts of the country. Angela Stone (info@maineneeds.org) is the founder and director (volunteer).
What We Do
Work with all service agencies in Portland and throughout the state to provide basic needs for their clients. Clothing, housewares, supplies for transitioning into homes, or living on the street. We work with caseworkers, nurses, teachers, home health workers, over 100 agencies at this time. We are 100% volunteer operated and fueled by donations from the community. Volunteers help sort donations and pull together requested items for caseworkers.
