Who We Are

We operate a 1.7 mile private railroad with vintage streetcars for our guests to ride in! Our volunteer operating crews are passionate and knowledgeable about our collection and the role that electric railways played in the growth of our country. They incorporate interesting historical information into the narrated rides and tours. Our museum store carries an extensive inventory of books and products that appeal to subject matter fans and just about everyone else, too! We produce a full season of special events, and we are dog-friendly. Visitors who enjoy hiking can use our trail, accessed by trolley (electric streetcar), which connects to the neighboring Smith Trail system owned by the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust.

What We Do

We're the world's first and largest electric railway museum. Our mission is to collect, restore, preserve, exhibit, interpret, and demonstrate the operation of significant transit vehicles with emphasis on traditional streetcar and interurban service, and including rapid transit, trackless trolleys, and buses with select worldwide comparative representation.
