The Pines Retirement Community

The Pines offers Independent Living and Level 1 Assisted Living with many activities and learning opportunities to those 62 and over. We are located in 'the pines' not quite a mile away from the beautiful beaches of Ocean Park and next door to the the Rachel Carson conservation marsh. There is direct access to the Shuttlebus transportation (which services Saco, Biddeford and Old Orchard) and residents have ample opportunity to enjoy the wonderful programs offered by the Ocean Park Association throughout the summer. We have been fortunate to have volunteers to enrich the lives of our residents from cooking classes to travelogues; exercise programs to computer training. We are always looking for more!

The Pines, in Ocean Park Maine, is a community of homes for retired people and those with special needs which provide the highest quality of service and care. We offer a range of attractive, safe and environmentally responsible housing. Supported in part by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and also by private donors, our goal is to ensure that residents obtain the best economical housing possible. The Pines consists of two properties, The Pines at Ocean Park and Pinewood Manor. During the summer of 1969 a group from the New England Baptist Council Youth Conferencing camp discovered that many senior citizens, living on fixed incomes, were paying as much as 65-70% of their total income on housing. From that initial finding; with the trust and spiritual empowerment of youth and the perseverance of their leaders came a vision to provide affordable housing for seniors. In 1972, Oceanview Manor (which is now The Pines at Ocean Park) was formally dedicated and in 1981 an additional 50 apartments were opened next door at Pinewood Manor. We are very proud to have been providing housing for over 40 years.
