Sanford Backpack Program

We are a non profit that runs on grants, fundraisers, and donations. Comprised of mostly volunteers with two part time paid employees. We are focused on youth hunger int he Sanford Maine area and have been operating since 2010. The program has grown tremendously the last several years with the addition of a free student market as well as increasing our fresh produce distributions.

We provide nutrient dense foods to Sanford students and their families to help bridge the meal gap many face when school meals are not available. We focus on fresh produce and create a school pantry environment that greatly reduces and even abolishes the stigma surrounding youth hunger and food insecurity.
