Who We Are

The Barron Center mission is to provide high quality long term care services for frail elderly and chronically ill individuals without regard to those individuals' creed, race, color, national origin or financial situation Started in 1763 as the Poor Farm, the Barron Center has served the citizens of Portland ever since. The center was the first in the US to open an Alzheimer's Unit (1984). In 1992 Barron Center II was opened.

What We Do

Barron Center provides necessary and innovative services that otherwise would not be provided and this is done at the lowest cost to the taxpayers of the City of Portland. Barron Center 's first priority is to serve the residents of Portland. We provide resident/client services in a manner that is self-directed and recognizes the individuality of each person in order to preserve and enhance quality of life.
