Portland high school is the most diverse school in the state of Maine. The 900 students at PHS come from 43 countries and speak 26 languages. Founded in 1821, Portland high is the second oldest operating public high school in the United States. Portland High is a diverse high school in the city of Portland with a very strong sense of tradition and dedicated alumni community. Portland offers many supportive programs for our students such as The Portland Mentoring Alliance, Make it happen, Peer Turtoring, JMG (Jobs for Maine Grads).
