Volunteers are stationed at different spots along the racecourse with barriers, cones, etc, along the racecourse, helping direct traffic to other roads.
The race starts 1/3 mile down from Rí Rá on the Eastern Trail Path and is an out and back course with the start and finish mats both on the Eastern Trail for accurate timing by Bay State Race Services!
History:
The first official Irish Road Rover 5K started in 1997 in Portland, Maine.
Its tradition, however, dates back much earlier to Syracuse, New York when my brother Tommy and his friends got together early St. Patrick's Day morn for several years to run a course around Schiller Park on the city's North Side.
It is their spirit of fun and friendship that has been the goal of the "Rover". So after the race, have a toast to running, to good health and to good friends old and new.
Thanks to you! Tommy, Mike, Soapy, Terry, Dave and all!
