The Salvation Army is seeking volunteers who would like to share their interest, hobby, skill or experiences with seniors in our Center for Healthy Aging. Our senior group is always excited to learn and to try new things! Is your favorite pass time building model airplanes, scrapbooking or writing poetry? Have you recently taken a great trip and would like to share your photos and experiences? Are you knowledgeable about home health and safety? Let us know what you'd like to share! From simple presentations to hands on activities, we'd love to bring your area of expertise to our eager audience of seniors. Don't worry - you don't have to be a professional (although professionals are welcome too). The Center for Healthy Aging is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week at 297 Cumberland Avenue in Portland.

Do you love to quilt, sew or embroider? Would you like to share your skills with children? The Salvation Army is seeking volunteers who will guide children through various sewing projects as a part of our summer day camp. We?ll spend time each day learning to quilt, sew and/or embroider. Each child will bring home creations of their very own. The program will serve low-income children in Greater Portland, and will work to emphasize the value of individuality and creativity. Together, we?ll explore the possibilities for self-made, hand-made fun!

Do you love to knit or crochet? Would you like to share your skills with children? The Salvation Army of Greater Portland is seeking passionate and kid-friendly performers of all kinds for our exciting summer day camp program. We welcome inquiries from all dancers, singers, musicians, actors and performers who wish to share their skills and help kids learn the value of self-expression. Join us for a performance, workshop, demonstration, or throughout the week to teach, mentor and help kids as they create their own performance and share newfound skills.

Are you an athlete or sports fan? Would you like to share your skills and competitive expertise with children this summer? The Salvation Army is seeking volunteer athletes for a special sports and competition-themed week of our summer day camp. The program will serve low-income children in Greater Portland, and will emphasize the value of healthy competition, teamwork and active, healthy living. We?re working to help kids get active and compete in both familiar and unique ways: from baseball and bowling to curling and bocce, we?re eager to learn and play! If you have a skill or affinity for exercising or a sport or game, please join us!

Calling all bookworms! The Salvation Army is seeking reading enthusiasts to volunteer as a part of our summer day camp. The program will serve low-income children in Greater Portland, and will celebrate stories, imaginations, and the simple pleasures of reading. We?re seeking volunteers who can help maintain our ?reading room,? read to kids and help facilitate fun book or story-themed activities. If you love books, stories or storytelling, please join us!

Are you a local artist or art teacher who enjoys sharing your creativity and passion with kids? The Salvation Army is seeking kid-friendly volunteer artists for our summer day camp program. Share your expertise and teach children to draw, paint, sculpt and create together. The program will serve low-income children in Greater Portland, and will work to provide meaningful artistic experiences and emphasize the value of individuality and creativity. From a simple still-life project to a big group sculpture or mural, we?d welcome your ideas and expertise for classroom and collaborative projects!
