Join our team as we bring essential furniture directly to clients’ homes. Staff and volunteers work together to load items into our vehicles, transport them, and carefully move the furniture inside for each client. This role makes an immediate, meaningful impact—turning an empty space into a comfortable home.

Volunteers team up with Furniture Friends staff to travel to donor locations—homes, motels, schools, and more—to collect approved furniture donations. Together, the team loads items into our vehicles and transports them back to the warehouse for processing. This role is active, collaborative, and essential to keeping our furniture flow strong.

On Saturdays, volunteers can jump in wherever help is needed—either supporting donation drop-offs at our warehouse or joining staff on donation pick-ups. You might welcome donors and help unload furniture, or ride along to homes, motels, and schools to collect approved items and load them into our vehicles.

It’s a great role if you like staying active, working as a team, and keeping the flow of furniture moving to neighbors who need it.

Clients visit our warehouse to “shop” for the furniture they need from our showroom. Shopper Guides welcome clients, walk them through the selection process, and offer support as they choose items. Afterward, volunteers enter the selected furniture into our inventory system. Each appointment lasts about 30 minutes. *Training required.

Volunteers help keep our mission moving—literally! As a truck driver, you’ll operate our 16-foot box truck to pick up donated furniture or deliver items directly to clients across our service area. You’ll always be paired with staff or another volunteer, and a quick road test with FF staff is required before you get started.

Our Warehouse Support volunteers are our all-around helpers. Tasks may include cleaning and organizing, helping move furniture, driving or transporting volunteers, and pitching in with simple administrative work. This role is perfect for someone who likes variety and wants to keep the warehouse running smoothly.

Two days before each scheduled delivery, volunteers confirm the client’s furniture list and update the referral if anything has changed. They also contact the client to remind them of their delivery day and time and ensure someone will be home to receive the items. This role can be done fully remotely. *Training Required.

Volunteers help manage incoming inquiries with professionalism, patience, and compassion. After training, volunteers can schedule deliveries remotely. Tasks include checking each referral in our database to ensure there are no duplicates, confirming the client lives within our service area, and sending a Calendly link to the client or case manager so they can schedule their own pick-up. This role is an important part of keeping our process organized and client-centered. This role can be done fully remotely. *Training Required.

Remote volunteers play a key role in coordinating deliveries with care and professionalism. After training, volunteers assist with scheduling by checking each referral for duplicates, confirming client addresses and service eligibility, and verifying or updating the items list submitted by the case manager. They review the delivery calendar to find the next available slot, update the schedule in the system, and record notes summarizing communication with the client. Finally, volunteers update the delivery calendar with the client’s name and ID to keep everything organized and on track. *Training Required.

Volunteers providing phone support help keep our organization connected and responsive. This role may require being on-site to answer incoming calls and check voicemails from the general phone line. Calls and messages can include a variety of topics, such as furniture donation questions, client inquiries, case manager requests, or general organizational questions. Volunteers should be professional, patient, understanding, and considerate in all interactions. *Training Required.

Volunteers helping with email play a crucial role in keeping our communication organized and timely. Responsibilities include checking the general email account, responding to inquiries across all aspects of the organization, updating client referrals as needed, and forwarding emails to the appropriate staff. Volunteers should approach each message with professionalism, patience, and consideration. *Training Required.

Volunteers assist in maintaining strong connections with our furniture donors. Tasks include checking the donor database for previously contacted donors, following up via call, text, or email, reviewing submitted photos and responding to questions, scheduling donation pickups, and informing donors of our drop-off schedule. This role helps ensure donations keep moving smoothly from our community to those in need. *Training Required.
