Sound the Alarm. Save a Life. is part of the American Red Cross’ 5-year initiative to reduce the number of preventable deaths and injuries caused by home fires. To-date, there are over 400 documented lives saved by Red Cross-installed smoke alarms, 8 of those here in Maine. You can learn more about Sound the Alarm here or here.
Sound the Alarm. Save a Life. event in Greater Portland (May 12):
On Saturday, May 12, Red Cross volunteers, community members, business partners, and firefighters will install smoke alarms and provide fire safety education to homes in Portland, South Portland, and Westbrook. Volunteers are needed to join our installation teams for this event (teams go into homes). Installation training will be provided on the morning of the event. No prior experience necessary. Breakfast and lunch provided.
