Description

Are you passionate about supporting older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers? Are you looking to gain experience in event planning, donor relations, or communications? Join our team and grow professionally while contributing to a meaningful cause. 

The Development & Communications Intern at The Southern Maine Agency on Aging assists with a variety of tasks that directly support our fundraising, communications, and advocacy efforts.


What You'll Do:
-Assist with event planning, including a volunteer appreciation event and a summer/fall fundraiser
-Help craft timely and meaningful donor acknowledgements.
-Perform database cleanup using Raiser’s Edge to keep our fundraising software in top shape.
-Visit programs to gather photo releases from clients and capture moments in action.
-Organize and maintain a photo and story library for advocacy and development needs.

Qualities & Skills We're Looking For:
-Good written communication skills.
-Computer literacy, including the ability to learn and use our donor database, Raiser’s Edge.
-Ability to operate office equipment.
-Team player who works well with diverse groups of people.

Where & When You'll Work:
-This role is hybrid (remote tasks and visits to our Biddeford (30 Barra Rd.) and Springvale (21 Bradeen St.) offices).
-Work takes place during regular business hours, with direction from our Development team.  We offer flexible schedules within this framework!
-We ask for a minimum commitment of 3 months.

We Offer Training!
You'll attend in-person, job-specific training at the Cohen Center or via Zoom: expect 1-3 hours of role-specific training plus a 2-hour volunteer orientation.  Plus, you'll grow your skills hands-on, and be invited to all staff training, such as cultural competency workshops from Cross Cultural Community Services.
