Description

Volunteers are needed to play a vital role in enhancing the patient and visitor experience by providing care, compassion, and support in many roles across the hospital! From patient care to administration, there is a role at Maine Medical Center for you!

Southern Maine Agency on Aging is teaming up with MaineHealth Maine Medical Center - Biddeford and Maine Medical Center (Portland) to recruit volunteers for various roles in the hospital's operations!

Volunteer Roles Available:

-Gift & Flower Shop - help with managing inventory, assisting customers, handling transactions, and maintaining a welcoming environment
-Admitting - Patient Access Support:
greet patients and visitors, respond to their questions, and offer directions.  Escort patients to their destinations within the hospital.
-Food Pantry - support the daily functions of the food pantry by providing administrative, logistic and physical support tot eh food pantry manager
- Mailroom - deliver patient mail and packages
-Cafeteria Assistant - support the busy cafeteria staff by restocking condiments and utensils when necessary, clean dining room table as and chairs, help make sandwiches.
-Customer Service - Sit at various departments' customer service desks and make all who enter feel welcome by providing directions, information and escorts. 
-Concierge - Listen to voicemail requests for concierge items; bag and deliver the requested items.
- Hospital Elder Life Program - Visit with patients over 70-years-old to provide companionship and attend to key wellness areas.

Where will the volunteer(s) work:  MaineHealth Maine Medical Center - Biddeford; OR Maine Medical Center, Portland Hospital; on direct patient-care units

Training & Orientation:
Volunteers will undergo a general hospital orientation, and, depending on their assigned role, position-specific training. Volunteers also participate in periodic retraining and a formal quality assurance process.
