Friendly visitors add so much to the lives of the residents and members at the Cedars. The goal of being a friendly visitor is to provide companionship to our residents and members. This may be done through reading, playing games, sharing stories, writing a letter or just conversing. The resident usually indicates how they would like this time to be spent. Our friendly visitors often assist residents by escorting or transporting to and from activities provided within our community. Traits of a friendly visitor here at The Cedars include: The ability to relate effectively, positively and compassionately with residents, members and staff. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Interest in getting to know residents personally. Ability to work with minimal supervision once tasks and responsibilities have been clearly defined. Ability to learn to transport residents in wheel chairs
