Volunteer: STRIVE Studios Volunteer Teachers

PSL/STRIVE is looking for volunteer teachers in our STRIVE Studios art program! 

STRIVE Studios is a dedicated visual art and movement program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, that focuses on being in the community, building artistic skills, and encouraging new ideas. Projects incorporate technical skills and personal interests to further develop individual artwork, with support from staff as needed. 

STRIVE Studios currently offers ceramics, painting, sewing, screen printing, beading, digital photography, yoga, movement, music therapy and more. We would love to add more offerings to our participants and are looking for volunteers to teach ongoing or 1-time classes. There are also work-trade opportunities available! Class curriculum and schedule is up to the instructor. Classes will be held Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:45a-11:45a and 1:45p-4:15p.

Volunteer: STRIVE 25 Volunteers

STRIVE is looking for volunteers for their STRIVE 25 program! 

STRIVE 25 is a social event for STRIVE participants 25 and up. STRIVE 25 takes place the first Thursday of each month from 6-8pm. During STRIVE 25, the STRIVE Center opens its doors and participants  join together for a night of games, dancing and interacting with their peers in a safe and inclusive atmosphere. Dinner is also served during STRIVE 25. 

Responsibilities: Volunteers in this program help facilitate healthy relationships, start group activities and ensure STRIVE Night is a safe and positive environment. Other responsibilities may include; help with serving dinner, facilitate games and other activities, set up/take down theme night decorations (when applicable), be a positive role model. The most important responsibility to is to have fun meeting new people and to encourage members to get involved and foster new relationships.

STRIVE is looking for volunteers to work in it's Tweens Program.

Tweens is a social program for our members aged 11-14. Held each Friday afternoon from 3:30-5:30, Tweens provides a safe, structured atmosphere to expand social opportunities for middle school students. Whether it is dance class, a baking lesson or an afternoon of arts and crafts, each week consists of an engaging activity lead by community members or STRIVE staff, designed for this age group.

Do you have a special hobby or activity that you'd like to share with the group (ie. arts and crafts, dancing, yoga, other physical activities, music, etc.)? STRIVE is always looking for community members to come to the program to lead a group activity?
