More than 225 years old, Hope Cemetery is a non-profit corporation with a volunteer board of directors. We are not town owned or supported. We operate seasonally but are reachable by phone message. Our 120 acre property includes 40 developed acres of the cemetery proper and 80 acres of woods and fields which are open to the public for walking, running, skiing, snowshoeing, etc. We have operated quietly until our recent efforts to let people know about our history and our natural resources that are available for their use. The Old Cemetery has beautiful, very old stones much in need of re-setting and cleaning; we are depending on volunteers to help us maintain those stones. The nature trails are in need of maintenance. This too requires volunteers. Our limited staff are busy mowing, trimming and serving the needs of families who have suffered losses. It is the responsibility of the board and other volunteers to do projects in the Old Cemetery and in the undeveloped land.
