Kennebunkport Parks & Recreation

Kennebunkport Parks & Recreation is a municipal department that depends heavily upon volunteers to offer its services to the community. We offer after-school programming options, summer day camp programs, introductory and elementary level sports, adult fitness, special events,and trips for adults. Our youth sport programs, for example, would not exist without the time and energy of many volunteer coaches, program assistants, and referees. We also use volunteers to serve on our P & R committee, to assist with special events, and for park development and maintenance projects. We are hoping to get into some trail development in the near future, and volunteers would be crucial to the success of that effort.

Our mission is to provide facilities and programs that promote the overall well-being of all citizens in our community. Our department has been in existence since the mid-1970s. The current director has been here since 1981, and two additional full-time program personnel have been added since 2000. The additional staff has resulted in increased opportunities for our community and participants; but our need for volunteer assistance remains.
