Saco Bay Trails is an all-volunteer organization of about 100 members, governed by a board of trustees. We build and maintain our trail network with seasonal work parties and sponsor guided walks on the trails featured in our regional Trail Guide, "Take A Hike in the Saco Bay Area" that is available for sale at local stores. Visit our website at www.sacobaytrails.org.and sign up to get our biannual newsletter for up-to-date reports on our activities and events.
What We Do
Saco Bay Trails builds and maintains trails for walking, biking, cross-country skiing and other non-motorized recreation in the Saco Bay area. We envision a permanent network of easily accessible, well-maintained, well-marked and well-known trails throughout the Saco Bay area that are used by a wide range of people with a broad range of abilities. Our mission is to create and maintain this network of trails and to promote its acceptance and use by the public. Saco Bay Trails began as a subcommittee of the City of Saco's Conservation Commission but incorporated as a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1998. Since then we have created 9 trails, on both our land and land with easements, licenses and special use permits. We are a registered land trust.
