The New School

The New School is a small non-profit accredited private high school that caters to students who want an educational experience unlike any other. We are actively involved with the surrounding communities to enhance not only the student's educational experience but to build upon that sense of local community. We enable this involvement through apprenticeships, hiring community teachers who are specialized in unique subjects and partaking in community service. We have core courses during the day and offer community courses after 3pm for people in the surrounding communities. These courses are available for high school credit and are half price for 8th graders and people over the age of 65.

The New School pledges productive involvement in the local and global communities by providing a holistic learning environment which nurtures the growth of mind, body and spirit. The New School was created by students, parents, teachers and community members convinced that many students thrived in small schools with innovative approaches to learning. In October of 1999, 35 people met to plan a high school that fills this need.
