Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project

The Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project is a legal aid organization that recruits volunteer lawyers to provide free legal information, advice, and representation to Mainers with low incomes who have civil legal problems. VLP's legal services are provided entirely by volunteer attorneys and community members, supported and supervised by a small staff.

VLP staff and volunteers handles client intake and financial screening. We determine what kind of help the client needs and how best we can provide it. We try to connect them with a volunteer attorney through one of our programs. Our staff also gathers documents and other information to assist attorneys in their work with clients.
