Who We Are
We are a neighborhood based elementary school. Twelve years ago the gardens at the front of our school were designed by a landscape architect to reflect the beach which is just down the street. Gardening is a big deal at Small School. It is an integral part of the fourth grade curriculum, where the 4th graders plant veggies in the spring, care for them over the summer and fall, and then harvest them to host a big Harvest Feast for about 130 people. The entire school community passes through the area of our three gardens (the veggie garden, insect garden and beachscape garden) when they gather in the morning behind the school. We often need volunteer groups to help maintain the gardens.
What We Do
We are a public elementary school with a big focus on gardening!
