Who We Are

Hope Acts is an independent 501(c)3 in Portland, Maine that is working to build a community where all people experience social, emotional, physical, economic, and spiritual well-being. Our programs in recovery & wellness and immigrant support offer hospitality, hope, and healing.

What We Do

Recovery & Wellness: Portland has such a vibrant and creative community of people recovery from addiction. We love to draw on their strength and energy empower them to further engage in the Portland communitu. All our recovery and wellness programs have their foundation in prayer and meditation. We do yoga, drumming, host recovery meetings, and allow a circle of recovery advisors to guide the direction of additional activities. We are always expanding.Immigrant Support: Every day we meet friends new to Portland, to Maine, and to the United States. Inspired by their deep hope and commitment to beginning a new life here, Hope Acts provides transitional housing (Hope House); coordinates a clinic offering legal assistance for those applying for asylum; offers assistance in learning English; and organizes and leads educational and cultural events to raise awareness, strengthen relationships, invite support, and celebrate the culture of people from around the world. In addition, we now pair our residents up with mentors to be a positive force in their life.
