Who We Are
Port Resources is a non-profit social service agency dedicated to providing innovative and supportive residential, outreach and outpatient services to children and adults with developmental disabilities and behavioral health challenges across Southern Maine. Port Resources is dedicated to empowering individuals with developmental and bahavioral health challenges to live meaningful and fulfilled lives in their communities. Port Resources was incorporated in December 1979 and opened its first group home in July 1980 (a six-bed group home on Emery Street) in Portland; now two, four-person apartments referred to as the "Munroe House," in honor of Elmer Munroe- one of the first individuals supported by Port Resources. Port Resources was established as part of the movement to de-institutionalize individuals with development disabilities from Pineland. Port Resources has grown is size providing residential programs for over 100 adults, adolescents, and children. Our in-home support and HCT programs provide out-reach services to over twenty-five children and hundreds of individuals are served through our outpatient mental health clinic. Port Resources has a trained staff of over three hundred full time individuals, including Direct Support Professionals, Behavioral Health Professionals, Licensed Clinical Social workers, Psychologists, Psychiatrists and Certified Professional Trainers. Port Resources has an annual operating budget of just over $13 million. We consider Port Resources a very special organization. As a result of our programs, many individuals with developmental and behavioral health challenges lead rich fulfilling lives in Southern Maine communities. What We Do
Adult Residential Services: Our programs provide comfortable, healthy homes that meet each individual's needs. Our residential services range in size from one or two bed apartments or homes to larger five to six bed homes. Staff support ranges from a few hours a week to 24 hours per day. Residential Services for Children: We provide a family-like environment with supports and guidance during school age years. We work with both the school system and families to maximize the opportunity for the growth and development of each child. Out Reach (In-home Support and HCT): Our in-home services for developmental or behavioral health provide support to children while still living with their families. Programming, shaped by the needs of the individual and their family, provides consistency and skills teaching to support the child and his or her family, in their home environment. Outpatient Mental Health Services: Our Outpatient Mental Health Clinic supports children, adolescents, adults and families through outpatient therapy, psychological testing and evaluation, and psychiatric medication management. Professional Development Services: Our Professional Development Center offers a full spectrum of training for direct support professionals, special education professionals and municipalities. Software Services: Our Software Services support providers with maintaining compliance with State required record keeping and billing.
