The Christine B Foundation is a service-providing nonprofit striving to support those facing cancer by extending access to healthy food, nutritional information, and community connections essential to their strength and comfort.
The Cancer Nutrition Services through CBF include hospital produce pick up, oncology dietitian counseling, and home-delivered medically tailored groceries for patients with cancer, recent survivors, and their families.
This program supports over 1,500 Mainers every year across the state now having provided over 700,000 equivalent meals.
Thanks to 100+ volunteers working in various parts of this effort, CBF remains committed to keep this service at no cost to recipients.
Home Delivery Drivers:
The CBF is looking for volunteer Delivery Drivers to help with making home deliveries of CBF Nutrition Packages to homes in Eastern (Piscataquis, Penobscot, Washington & Hancock County) and Southern (Cumberland & York County) Maine.
Each Nutrition Package is assembled to address the unique medical needs and preferences of each patient with cancer and their family. The Nutrition Packages are prepared and assembled at the Bangor Fulfillment Site, picked up by the Home Delivery driver (in Bangor or offsite meeting spot in southern Maine), and dropped off at the patient's home.
Volunteer Role:
CBF is looking for volunteers with strong interpersonal and active listening skills, the ability to follow HIPAA and privacy policies, and professionalism. This volunteer position is a patient-facing role, that requires reliable transportation.
CBF seeks volunteers who can designate a day of the week/time of day to be the primary driver for that home(s). Route frequency varies but is often once a week. Volunteers can submit gas reimbursement at $0.25 per mile. Days of the week and time of day can vary based on availability, patient schedule, and ongoing needs.
