Are you looking for ways to take direct action to support immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in the Portland community? Do you want to help students achieve their learning goals safely and remotely? Apply to become a VIRTUAL English language tutor at LearningWorks today!
Tutors are paired with adult English language learners and spend 1.5 to 2 hours per week over the course of 6+ months working towards the student’s personal English goals.
Currently, lessons can be conducted over FaceTime, WhatsApp, Zoom, Skype, or any convenient virtual learning platform but, we hope that when it is safe to do so these lessons can resume taking place in person at public meeting locations such as libraries, community centers, and at our 181 Brackett Street office.
Prior experience as an educator is helpful, but not necessary, as extensive training and ongoing support are provided. The ideal candidate is fluent in English, independent, reliable, creative, and can practice cultural humility. We have a thorough and selective volunteer intake process-- get started today!
