PWH is in need of volunteers to help with our pick-ups in our box truck and van! This volunteer opportunity does involve heavy lifting, loading and unloading the truck (not just driving). Volunteers are paired together or with a staff member for pick-ups, and these are typically from healthcare facilities.
This work involves driving our 20’ box truck or cargo van to hospitals, medical facilities, clinics, nursing facilities and even individuals’ homes and other locations to pick up donated items. Travel is primarily in Maine but could include pick-ups in other New England states. Examples of tasks: driving to facilities and loading pallets or individual boxes of items, unloading items at the warehouse, picking up beds or other equipment. This is a physical job requiring the ability to use a pallet jack & load/unload up to 50lbs.
You do not need a special drivers license for our vehicles but do need a clean driving record to be added to our insurance.
