Fall volunteering at its best!!
Individual, family, club, and corporate volunteers are needed to support the Community Bicycle Center's 4th Annual Maine AppleCycle benefit ride. This is the CBC's largest annual fundraiser to support its year-round, free youth programs.
Date: Saturday, October 13
Time: All day opportunities, as well as morning shift, afternoon, and early evening volunteer spots.
GENERAL OVERVIEW (times are approximate)
- Rest stop volunteers (8a - 5p, depending on your orchard): Help recharge tired cyclists with yummy fall-inspired treats including cider donuts, pie and more! There are 5 rest stops, and each rest stop is based at a BEAUTIFUL apple orchard in Greater York County. Orchards include: McDougal Orchard, Romac, Doles, Lakeview, and Eden Acres Family Farm.
- Registration volunteers (6:30a - 11a): Help us welcome in our benefit riders! We need morning people with smiling faces ready to get folks ready for their adventure. Free coffee provided by our friends at Maine Coast Roast.
- Lunch volunteers (11:30a - 5): Maine AppleCycle provides a decadent, locally sourced and delicious lunch for all riders (and volunteers!). We need folks to serve, maintain the lunch area, and help direct cyclist to lunch.
- SAG Vehicle volunteers: All our routes (7, 35, 62, 100-miles) have support-and-gear vehicles. These critical SAG volunteers pick-up weary or mechanical issue cyclists, and make sure no one gets left behind. We also need a team of two dispatch volunteers back at home-base (Alfred Shaker Museum).
- Good vibes volunteers! (11:30 - 6): Bring your bells, whistles, homemade instruments and help us cheer riders across the finish line!!! This is a great opportunity for youth groups.
- Bakers! Pie Makers! Lunch and Treat Creators!: Do you have a favorite fall recipe you are just crazy about? Pumpkin whoopie pies? Apple Crumble? We take pride in our locally-sourced, scrumptious event fare. Be part of the event by becoming an AppleCycle baker. AppleCycle is all about good food, scenic orchard rest stops, and celebrating fall in Maine.
