Date: August 30, 2017 Location: Windham, Maine Summary: Founded in 2014, Gbokpasom, which means Helping Hand in the Bassa language of Liberia is a grassroots US-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to empower the underprivileged children; as well as to create opportunity and promote human dignity. The organization is providing support for underprivileged and orphan children in needs and maintaining helpful long-term development programs in respond to human sufferings in Liberia. Gbokpasom-Maine is working with its local implementing partner Gbokpasom-Liberia to support underprivileged children and orphans in that part of the world. The Executive Director (ED) reports to the Board of Directors and has overall strategic and operational responsibility for Gbokpasom, volunteers, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. S/he will initially develop deep knowledge of field, core programs, operations, and business plans. Duties also include making recommendations to the Board, implementing policies, overseeing grant, developing and managing administrative systems, representing the Organization to academic institutions and the broader community, and serving as chief volunteer and fundraiser. The Executive Director oversees an annual operating budget, recommends, and distributes such annual grants.
Responsibilities: Exercising responsibility, delegated by the Board of Directors, for all aspects of the Organization administration, including supervising other staff/volunteer, meeting technology needs, and managing the building owned by the Organization Providing leadership and direction for grant programs and administrative operations; overseeing, prioritizing, and evaluating the work of other staff/volunteer Serving as the principal representative of the Organization in interactions with all funded and inquiring organizations, consultants, investment managers, major vendors and other interested parties Providing schedules, agendas, minutes, and other logistics for Board meetings (normally five per year) Preparing recommendations for approval by the Board regarding budgets, grants, policies, goals, staffing and major expenditures Intelligent use of technology in support of the Organizations work, including social media and evolving technologies as appropriate Preparing operational updates and analytic reports for the Board related to the Organizations programs, finances, and other matters as appropriate Assuring that the Foundation website and data bases are maintained and updated
Qualifications: A passion and caring for the mission and purposes of Gbokpasom an outcomes orientation, knowing how to effectively capture impact/outcome information and utilize it well in communications. A minimum of two years of senior management-level leadership experience. Professional, highly effective written, verbal and presentational communication skills. Proven strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain important relationships with institutions, professionals and clients. Demonstrated success in operational and financial oversight, strategic planning, organizational development and nonprofit governance. Technological understanding of, and experience with computer software programs and systems, and a demonstrated ability to manage the development of an interactive, engaging website. An interest in and ability to explore and develop additional resources that enhance the Organizations work, while honoring the rich history and work of the organization. Ability to interact effectively with the Board of Directors and demonstrated prior experience in working with a Board. Extensive experience in International Aid Organization functions is highly desired. A bachelor degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred. Please note! The Executive Director and all positions within Gbokpasom are volunteer until grant proposal is approve at which time the annual budget for Executive Director salary and benefits would be discuss. In addition, compensation package details are negotiable based on experience and individual priorities.
